TREATMENT OF SURGICAL AND TRAUMA SCARS

TREATMENT OF SURGICAL AND TRAUMA SCARS

Scars can appear when the skin suffers a trauma, an inflammatory process or following surgery: any injury to the skin is repaired through a specific process that involves replacing the normal dermis and epidermis tissues with fibrous tissue.

Lasers are used to have a total or fractional ablative effect on the superficial layers of the epidermis and to obtain a “fresher” and smoother appearance of the treated skin.

The heat generated by the laser in the deep layers of the dermis stimulates the production of new collagen, which improves the quality of the skin in the treated areas.
